Program Overview

This program will review a wide range of Elder Care issues including:

• Needs assessment, financial assessment, competency

• Social Security (benefits – spousal, divorced spouses, widowed spouses, parents, termination of benefits, appeals)

• Pensions – ERISA, spousal benefits, rights of the divorced spouses, taxation of distributions, estate tax implications

• Powers of Attorney – durable, springing

• Trusts – custodial, pour-over, spendthrift, self settled

• Estate for the elderly, tax issues, fiduciary issues, burial provisions

• Medicaid issues – nursing home care, home health care, hospice benefits, appeals

• Asset transfers – saving the residence-tax issues, planning

• Guardianships and protective arrangements

• Healthcare decisions
